Jane Aaron wins Roland Mathias Prize

Out of an all-women short list of Welsh writers, the Roland Mathias Prize has been awarded to Jane Aaron, Professor of English at the University of Glamorgan, for her volume  Nineteenth-Century Women’s Writing in Wales: Nation, Gender and Identity  (University of Wales Press). 

This biennial prize is awarded for work published in the field of poetry, short stories, literary criticism or Welsh history. Also on the short list this year were Sarah Prescott, Sheenagh Pugh and Carys Davies, and the judging panel included critic Sam Adams, and novelist and poet Chris Meredith; the panel was chaired by former journalist Glyn Mathias.
