On with the Show

21 May 2010

To mark Ceredigion’s continued support of The Royal Welsh Show, two of the county’s authors have joined forces to produce  Ymlaen â’r Sioe / On with the Show  (Gomer) a bilingual volume that celebrates the stories of the people at the heart of rural life in Ceredigion, and honours some of the notable successes that the county has enjoyed.

Summer 2010 is set to be a busy one for Cardis. First Ceredigion welcomes the Urdd Eisteddfod during Whitsun week, and in July the county plays host as sponsors of this year’s Royal Welsh Show, the jewel in the crown of Wales’ agricultural calendar. Indeed, the county’s generous contribution to two of Wales’ biggest events is little in keeping with the Cardi’s reputation as ‘tight’!

But of course it is not only in monetary terms that the people of Ceredigion have been generous. Over the years, they have been generous with their time, their knowledge, and their talent, contributing to the overall success and status of Wales’ biggest agricultural event.

And to mark Ceredigion’s continued support of The Royal Welsh Show, two of the county’s authors have joined forces to produce           Ymlaen â’r Sioe / On with the Show,  a bilingual volume that celebrates the stories of the people at the heart of rural life in Ceredigion, and honours some of the notable successes that the county has enjoyed.

Featuring a foreword from popular TV presenter, farmer and current president of the Royal Welsh - Dai Jones, Llanilar - the book introduces the animals and crafts associated with rural life, and takes a look at the intense competition and enthusiastic support competitors from the county thrive on. It is also testament to the hard work and commitment of those competitors, and their journey from local to national and sometimes international success.

Show commentator Charles Arch and experienced local author Lyn Ebenzer are the ideal pair to showcase what the county has to offer. Both have deep roots in Ceredigion, extensive rural knowledge, and an unparalled passion for their subject.

An ideal book for anyone with an interest in rural life in Wales!
