A life lived on stage

19 Oct 2010

Peter Hughes Griffiths's autobiography,  O Lwyfan i Lwyfan  was launched Thursday 21 October at St Peter's Hall, Carmarthen.

Peter Hughes Griffiths is a well known presenter and entertainer having performed on hundreds of stages across Wales. However, in his autobiography published by Y Lolfa, he reveals that it’s not only the performing stage that has played a major part in his life and career.

Aptly named  O Lwyfan i Lwyfan  translated as 'From Stage to Stage', Peter Hughes Griffiths leads us from his early childhood in Llwynbedw, to college and his career through to his retirement using the different stages on which he has performed to capture his story.

From the football stage to his composing stage and from the political stage to the performing stage, Peter Hughes Griffiths from Carmarthen has starred and shone on a number of different platforms.

A key worker within Plaid Cymru, Peter was one of Gwynfor Evans’s key campaigners during his successful 1970s political campaigns, and here you’ll find a number of personal stories about Gwynfor. Peter was also the Urdd Eisteddfod chairman during the storm that followed the announcement of the investiture of Prince Charles in 1969. An accomplished footballer in his day he can also claim to have scored a goal for Swansea football club. A composer of a number of well-known songs, a dramatist and poet, in his autobiography Peter reveals a number of talents and achievements.

Full of humorous stories and funny anecdotes, Peter’s natural storytelling talents shine through in the book.

"I began writing my autobiography because I felt that I wanted to document a number of interesting events - it wasn’t until I began writing that I realized how busy, full and varied each platform in my life was. I’ve tried to include as many interesting, funny, and at times, sobering events as I could and hope that people will enjoy reading it," said Peter.

O Lwyfan i Lwyfan  will be launched at St Peter’s Hall, Carmarthen on Thursday, October 21st at 7.30pm, in an evening of entertainment by Aled Gwyn, Ifan Gruffydd, Vernon Maher, Enlli Lewis, Sioned Beynon and pupils from Ysgol y Dderwen and Ysgol Bro Myrddin. The occasion will be hosted by Sulwyn Thomas. A warm welcome to all.
