Author and broadcaster to speak about his adventure in books

Author and broadcaster Trevor Fishlock, who has reported as a foreign correspondent from more than 70 countries for the Times  and the Daily Telegraph, is the guest speaker at this year’s World Book Day lecture to be held on Tuesday, 5 March, at the Pierhead building, Cardiff Bay.

Trevor Fishlock is the author of several books on Wales, India, Russia and America, and on nineteenth-century exploration; in addition, he has presented more than 150 television programmes about life and history in Wales. In his lecture, ‘Adventure in Books’, he will discuss his travels far and wide and the rewarding lifetime achievements gained whilst travelling and writing.

Mr Fishlock said:  "It is an honour to be invited to deliver this year’s World Book Day lecture. Books old and new are indispensable friends in the exploration of Wales and the world. Books, as World Book Day shows, are intrinsic to enjoyment."

The World Book Day lecture is an annual event organised by the Welsh Books Council. The lecture will be attended by representatives from several major bodies and organisations, including universities, libraries, the education sector and corporate organisations.

Elwyn Jones, Chief Executive of the Welsh Books Council, said:  "We are delighted to have Trevor Fishlock as our guest speaker. He is a truly inspirational author, and the tales of his travels and of Wales are compelling. We are very much looking forward to his lecture."

The World Book Day lecture is sponsored by Mr Roger Davies and family in memory of the late Mrs Catrin Puw Davies, in honour of her valuable contribution to the book industry in Wales.
