The Welsh Books Council welcomed the review into the field of literature and publishing commissioned recently by the Welsh Government. Elwyn Jones, the Chief Executive of the Council said: "We feel that the commissioning of this report reflects the Government’s commitment to the field of publishing and we therefore look forward to meeting the panel members and the opportunity of submitting evidence. "A review undertaken two years ago of the Council’s work as the bilingual organisation responsible for supporting and developing the publishing industry was most complementary of our work. The recent financial support to our core services from the Government was also a sign of their commitment. "Over the last ten years we have seen a number of important and exciting developments within the field of Welsh-and English-language publishing from Wales – from the quality of content and production to the range of popular titles for both children and adults as well as the developments in digital media. We look forward to continuing our work in ensuring a successful publishing sector here in Wales."
