Publishing the Rosser Report into Welsh-language Books for Children and Young People

1 Dec 2017

Following their Annual Meeting in Aberystwyth yesterday (Thursday, 30 November), the Welsh Books Council are pleased to share the final report produced by Dr Siwan Rosser of the School of Welsh, Cardiff University, on her Survey of Welsh-language Books for Children and Young People which she conducted earlier this year.

The report includes a good number of recommendations which will not only direct the Books Council’s work but will also challenge the wider industry, from the publishers to the booksellers, as well as challenging the Council’s partners, from Welsh Government to the media and other Welsh cultural institutions, regarding their role in promoting reading and the marketing of books for children and young people. Helgard Krause, Chief Executive of the Welsh Books Council, said: "This is an important report which will offer direction for this field for years to come. We’re pleased to say, having shared the report with the Council’s main panels and committees, that it has had a warm reception. Even though a number of the recommendations may take time to implement, I’m glad to say that work has already commenced on many of them." The recommendations, the full report and Helgard Krause’s introduction can be found here:
